Churnet Valley District Thinking Day Concert
Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Rangers and Guiders in the Churnet Valley got
together to celebrate Thinking Day in style this year.
As a district, we chose to support Water Aid as our Change the World project and
held a Sing for Change concert in Kingsley Youth Club for nearly 100 parents,
relatives and friends.
We also have four girls in the district who have been selected for international
opportunities this summer, so we split the £220 we raised between them and Water
Aid.
Kingsley Holt Rainbows delighted the audience with their dance to 'Under the
Sea' and rendition of 'Five Little Ducks', while Waterhouses Brownies sang 'Turn
the Tap'; Kingsley Holt Brownies sang 'There's a Hole in My Bucket' and 'Save
our Water'; Kingsley Holt Guides sang 'Living and Learning' and 'H2O' and Emily
Eyre of Kingsley Holt Rangers danced to 'Singin' in the Rain'.
Guides Bessie Baker and Charlotte Brunt were presented with their Baden Powell
Challenge Awards before the grand finale, when everyone gathered on the stage to
sing 'Girls Together Having Fun'. We were all presented with a Sing for Change
badge by the Mayor of Cheadle, Cllr Ivor Lucas.
The Guides then stayed for a sleepover, seeing in Thinking Day at midnight with
a candlelit ceremony where we talked about our favourite thing we have done in
the last 12 months.
