Staffordshire County's Changing the World DayOn Saturday 11 October 2008, 170 Guiders and Young Leaders attended the County's Changing the World Day at Staffordshire University in Stafford. Girlguiding UK’s Changing the World project challenges every guiding unit and group to complete a community action project in the next 12 months. This will ensure that we can launch our Centenary celebrations in September 2009 knowing that what we do does make a difference and that guiding can change the world. The workshops during the day focused on some of the 19 charities who have partnered with Girlguiding UK for this project. Information regarding some of the other charities that were not present was available in the display area and in the participants' welcome packs. The other sessions that were available had an international theme that provided ideas to introduce activities and raise awareness of global guiding into Unit programmes and possibly inspire Guiders to take a guiding group abroad. The Planning Team made sure that there was something for everyone, from Rainbow Units to Senior Section. The day was well received and there was lots of positive feedback on the evaluations forms. Thank you to everyone involved with the organising of the day who worked very hard to make it so successful See the Change the World picture gallery here |
