Girlguiding Cannock Division

Lights, camera, action!!

Cannock Division has just celebrated putting on a successful Cabaret show.

After many months pf planning, costume making, learning new songs and practicing over 18 units, 300 girls, Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Senior Section and their leaders took to the stage. We had girls taking part with learning difficulties, one who was blind and one on crutches!

Every unit planned their own activity, there was singing, dancing, sketches and lots of PR messages were read out in the form of readings and poems. Girls were dressed as bugs, bumble bees, cats, fairies, mermaids and nuns to name but a few! We even had leaders dressed as cats and monks strutting their stuff on stage.

What talented girls we have in Cannock Division, some of the young leaders had even choreographed the acts for their units, written their own sketches and poems.

After three sell out shows, rave reviews, letters from parents in the press, lots of thanks and potentially six new guiders a well-earned rest was had by all.

I have never been involved in a cabaret show before, it was a lot of hard work, ensuring all units had all relevant information, arranging ticket sales, seating, booking the venue, refreshments, rehearsals etc and without my team of District Commissioners and trusty assistants behind me it would not have happened, so my thanks go to them as well as the Guiders and girls who all supported the show.

I have to say as a Division Commissioner I was so proud of what we achieved and am very lucky to have such good friends in Guiding.

Teresa Ellis Cannock Division Commissioner
