Belgium "Flamboree"Hello, my names Bekki Farmer and I have recently come back from Belgium where I camped for 2 weeks with Scouts and Guides all over the world on a international "Flamboree". I got selected last year and I am so happy I got selected because I honestly had the best 2 weeks of my life. I have come away from my trip with so many great memories and so many new friends. I would encourage any guider who has the opportunity to do an international to take up the offer as they are such a great opportunity and its something you will never forget.
A summary of my trip was GREAT! We camped in an actual woods for 10 days so no camp fires for us. We did a variety of activities so we were always entertained. I did such things like abseiling down a building, jumping off a trapeze and mass games (water activities with 1500 people in a small space). Also we did real mountain biking on the only day we had torrential rain but it worked out for the best. I loved getting muddy from head to toe then jumping in a freezing cold shower. Wasn't my ideal holiday. But I cant complain the weather for the rest of my trip was sun sun sun! It was shorts everyday. At night there was just as much to do. We had a boomball twice which was a big dance, that was fun. Also we had a carnival where my group dressed up as Robin Hood and raved in a mosh pit with the leaders. That was tiring. And we did games in the evening in our subcamp which was LEO. We were the best.
I have got so much more to say and will babble on to anyone about it but I had the best two weeks of my life so far and I'm now looking forward to the stampede next year with a group from Penkridge.
