Fancy making over your local campsite?

Does your campsite look like it could do with a makeover? We've got some free trees and hedges up for grabs to help improve the way your campsite looks.

We are excited to be working with The Woodland Trust as part of our Girlguiding UK: Changing the World project.

This exciting initiative sees us working with 19 of the UK's leading charities to deliver unique ready-made community action projects.

The Woodland Trust will be launching their exciting project for girls in September and would like you to be a part of this project – through Campsite Makeovers! This is part of their Trees for All project, which aims to plant 12 millions trees (a tree for every child in the UK).

All Girlguiding campsites are welcome to apply to have their campsite made over.

To get involved:

•  Email your name, address and telephone number to ChangingtheWorld@woodlandtrust.org.uk by Friday 30 May 2008.

•  A regional representative from The Woodland Trust will then contact you and assess the site and together you will establish what trees are most suitable and where to plant them.

•  You will then coordinate the delivery and be responsible for planting them and involving as many girls in your local area as possible.

Depending on the scale and needs of the makeover The Woodland Trust will also assess for tree protection and maintenance needs. This will cover the three years needed to establish the trees.

The trees need to be planted between October 2008 and April 2009 and we would like you to host local planting days where you can involve local guiding in the planting of your trees. We would like girls involved in the makeover in which ever way they can.

The Woodland Trust and Girlguiding UK: Changing the World Campsite Makeovers are just part of the Woodland Trust exciting Changing the World project. In addition to these planting days at local campsites, The Woodland Trust are creating a ready made activity pack to enable girls to take action locally to protect their natural heritage. This will be available from September 2008 and advertised in the changing the world catalogue available in September’s guiding magazine.
