Our Headquarters

We are very proud of our purpose built Headquarters in Hixon, near Stafford.

As well as housing the County Office, our HQ provides training facilities and residential accommodation.

The kitchen is modern and spacious, and very well equipped. Our HQ has good disabled access. There is plenty of free car parking space.

The building was opened in February 2000 by the Chief Guide Bridget Towle. It is known as The Dorothy Dean Centre. Dorothy Dean was a County Commissioner who left a generous legacy to the Guides.

Please get in touch with us at the County Office if you are interested in using our facilities for Guiding activities.

County Standard

Staffordshire's original Standard hangs in the County Buildings in Stafford. It dates back to 1923 when it was presented by our first County President and it has become too fragile to carry.
A new standard was designed and created by Staffordshire Guiders and Trefoil Guild members. It was blessed at Lichfield Cathedral on 6th October 2002.
The colours on the first Standard, white and light blue, have been retained for the new Standard. Nearest the pole is the Trefoil worked in gold fabric. Then the Stafford knot in silver outlined in black thread. By the kindness of the late Lord Stafford we have been allowed to adopt the Stafford Knot as our County Badge. Next is Lichfield Cathedral. The stag's head represents Cannock Chase in the south and the Staffordshire Moorlands in the north. The castle represents the many castles around Staffordshire. The trees represent the National Forest and Arboretum and many wooded areas around the County. The barrels represent the brewing industry, and the bottle kilns the pottery industry. The azure bar wavy represents the River Trent and other Staffordshire waterways.

The names of the County team and the ladies who have made the Standard have been embroidered on a piece of cloth which is stitched inside the Standard.

Badges have been created for collectors. Details of how to buy these can be obtained from the County Office.
