RANGERS IN HUNGARY

IN August 2010, six Rangers, aged 14- 18 and four Leaders took part in an aid trip to the small village of Niryrbeltek in Hungary.

The trip was organised by the Sunflower Trust, a charity which regularly visits the region and supports the children.

The funds for the trip were raised by the Rangers and Leaders who carried out various fund raising events including raffles, bag packing and cycling 322miles on exercise bikes.

The Group
stayed in the village church house in the local community for the week and were able to experience the food and culture of the area. The role of the trip was to run an activity camp for disadvantaged young people in the local area.

Activities were run throughout the week for the local children and included sports, games and singing songs. This benefited the young people as they learnt new activities and developed their English speaking skills.

During their stay in the village the group also helped with community work including painting fences. In the church house they also painted a mural which will remind the community of all the hard work put in during the trip.

Thanks to
all the leaders and Rangers for making the aid trip a success.
