Winter Weekend

If you have recently visited Copeland Cottage near Maer you would have noticed a new landmark: 5th Berkswich Guides’ Luxury Bug Hotel!
Over the weekend 9th-11th Dec 5th Berkswich enjoyed constructing the bug-tastic bug house and taking part in various other bug themed activities such as an ugly bug ball on Saturday night with fancy dress.




On Friday night we all arrived at the cottage and enjoyed crumpets whilst we had ‘Bear Time’ where everyone’s teddies were introduced to one another and then a viewing of the film Bugs Life - a fitting start to our Bug Themed Holiday.





On Saturday morning after confirming planning permission for the new development, building commenced and after a lot of hard work collecting sticks from the wood, the local bug community soon had a brand new leisure facility - with a rather fancy tiled roof! (thanks to Nicola’s crash course in roofing!!)




The girls also enjoyed I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here challenges and on Sunday geo-cashing around the site and then grass sledging on the lawn which proved to be lots of fun despite the drizzle - who needs snow?!
All in all it was a great weekend and we all hope to be going to the Cottage again soon to pay our Bug Hotel a visit!
