Centenary Party in the Park

Our centenary celebrations began on 5 September 2009 when 7,000 members gathered at the Shugborough Estate for our biggest event ever – “Centenary Party in the Park”.
One hundred and nineteen coaches brought the girls in from all over the county, dressed in uniform. It was wonderful to see the field suddenly fill with happy faces.
At 5pm, the stage lights went on and members from PSSA opened the show with songs and dance from High School Musical.
Liz McClarnon was next on stage and sang some of her fantastic songs while Ian Kelsey, a heart-throb for many, kept us entertained with his wit and humour before Justin Fletcher bounced onto the stage to the delight of our younger members. The party atmosphere became electric!
Six members from the County received huge applause for their singing, dance and musical ability. Joe Blanks with The Tunics and Fake That had everyone singing and dancing as they sang well-known songs.
To close the show, Faryl Smith, a talented 13-year-old from ITV’s “Britain’s Got Talent” sang some moving songs and as darkness fell, we had the most spectacular firework display to music.
Everyone left for the journey home, a long line of girls with flashing pink bunny ears glowing in the dark will be a memory we shall never forget as we started our year of celebrations.
