Brownies Are Friends to Animals

4th Burton Brownies have visited Jamie Winstone's Vets in Horninglow as part of their Friends To Animals Badge.

The girls and leaders walked to the Vets and were treated to a tour of the surgery including the treatment rooms and the area where equipment is sterilised.

The room where operations take place was also seen. The Brownies were shown some x-rays of cats and dogs and answered questions about them.

The girls weighed themselves on special scales and compared their weight to that of different breeds of dogs.

At the end of the visit many questions were asked by the Brownies and some of them even want to become Vets.

Brownie Guider Kerry-Ann Roe said: "The Brownies were well behaved and were clearly interested in what Jamie had to say.  A big thank you goes to him and his staff for their hospitality."

The rest of the badge has been completed at the unit meetings, posters have been made showing what equipment is needed for a pet and we have learnt about the work of Guide Dogs for the blind.
